From chaos to clarity: building the sustainable content supply chain

“We’re drowning in content.”

Helen Baptist, Chief Market & Strategy Officer at Lytho, didn’t mince words when she opened the Content Gigafactory webinar. Between GenAI tools, endless new channels, and the rise of employee-generated content, teams are producing more than ever — and struggling to manage it all.

As Helen put it, “It’s early AI adoption, but it’s gonna get worse before it gets better.” The explosion of volume, velocity, and variety means every brand now operates its own content factory — but without clear guardrails, the result is inefficiency, duplication, and risk.

So how do creative and marketing leaders take control again?

Lesson 1: fix your foundation before you automate

Jaime Punishill, Chief Product Officer at Lytho, warned that jumping into AI without structure can backfire fast.

“If you’ve got bad data, if you’ve got bad process, and you apply AI to it, you will scale that badness at heretofore unknown speeds and levels.”

AI magnifies whatever foundation it’s given. If your content operations are disorganized, automation will only multiply the mess. But with defined workflows, clear data, and good governance, AI can accelerate production responsibly — turning creative chaos into controlled scale.

Lesson 2: start with what you have

Most teams are still defaulting to net new creation, but Jaime made it clear:

“The most expensive thing you can do is to create a new piece of content.”

Before briefing another asset, ask: Do we already have the building blocks?

When assets are tagged and searchable in a DAM, reuse and repurposing become strategic advantages. As Jaime described it, this is the shift from “more” to “smarter.”

The sustainable content supply chain doesn’t start with creation — it starts with discovery.

Lesson 3: compliance isn’t the enemy — it’s the enabler

In many organizations, compliance is seen as a slowdown. But Jaime flipped that thinking:

“Those functions hate being the departments of no. If you help them apply rules more consistently, compliance becomes an enabler.”

By leaning into governance for brand management and compliance early — not avoiding it — teams can reduce rework, protect brand integrity, and actually move faster. AI can help scale risk and brand checks consistently across every asset, transforming compliance into a competitive advantage.

Lesson 4: unlearn to move forward

When it comes to AI, experience can be both a blessing and a burden.

“This may be the first time in our careers where having 35 years of experience is a detriment,” Jaime reflected. “There’s so much we have to unlearn in order to use AI properly.”

That mindset shift — embracing curiosity over habit — is what defines the next generation of creative operations leaders. It’s not about discarding expertise, but reframing it to collaborate with AI instead of resisting it.

Lesson 5: meet your new AI teammates

Helen offered a glimpse of how Lytho is evolving the creative workflow:

“Think about having a brand buddy that understands your brand guidelines and checks the creative before it goes out. A creative ops analyst who helps with capacity planning. A compliance checker. An asset auditor. An agent that tags everything correctly.”

These aren’t hypothetical roles — they’re AI teammates, what Lytho calls the Guardians of Creative Control.

Each one designed to remove bottlenecks, maintain compliance, and give teams more time for the work that actually drives impact.

Lesson 6: structure enables creativity

The takeaway from the Content Gigafactory webinar is simple but powerful:

AI isn’t the answer — structure is.

When your processes, data, and governance are clear, automation amplifies your best work. When they’re not, it amplifies your weaknesses.

Helen closed the session with one final reminder:

“Fundamentally, good data, good tagging, and teammates working together — that’s how you win.”
